  1. Oil is a flammable substance, usually 
  2. insoluble in water, and composed chiefly of 
  3. carbon and hydrogen. Oils may be solids (fats 
  4. and waxes) or liquids. The three main types 
  5. are: essential oils, obtained from plants, 
  6. fixed oils, obtained from animals and plants, 
  7. and mineral oils, obtained chiefly from the 
  8. refining of petroleum.
